OPERANORD was founded by Louise Beck in 1996, with the ambition of creating a platform where artists across borders and traditions could meet, challenge artistic conventions and develop new pieces of music drama, in a dialogue with the surrounding society. OPERANORD initiate lengthy artist collaborations, consisting of several work phases and exchanges, which eventually leads to a production. So far OPERANORD has produced five large scale and site-specific projects in Denmark and abroad.
Our newest project, Liebestod-syndromet, is currently in development and will be presented at various festivals in 2019. The artistic team behind this project are: the poet Cia Rinne, the composers Sofia Jernberg, Rebecka Ahvenniemi and Louise Beck, but more artists will join us during the coming process.
Our latest project Looking for Courage was an interdisciplinary performance project involving artists from China, Denmark and Europe. The artistic development process ran through 2013/2014/2015 and consisted of artist in residencies, workshops, teaching and seminars in both China and Denmark. The result of this artistic process became a starting point of the production phase, which culminated in a site-specific promenade in Copenhagen in August, and in Shanghai October 2015.
