ABOUT

We used to call ourselves OPERANORD, but as our activities expanded, we decided to shorten our name to broaden our practice. This is why we now call ourselves OPE-N.

OPE-N is an open platform for open processes with open formats. It was founded by Louise Beck as a cross-disciplinary and collaborative performing arts platform focusing on how to open frames of mind.

OPE-N initiates all kinds of artistic exchanges – symposiums, workshops, and artistic research programmes – which explore how art can open new ways of looking at the world – and vice versa: how society can stimulate artistic expression and bring art to life.

The aim is to develop artistic projects that celebrate diversity and honour both our common ground and unique differences. Through all our initiatives, we strive to create a foundation for new artistic collaborations that may lead to smaller or larger-scale productions that push the boundaries of what opera can be.
